The Senior Management of the Wallace Collection, one of Europe’s finest collections of arms & armour, have unfortunately decided to close the Library and Archive to the public and make both staff members redundant.

An important thing to bear in mind when considering this valuable resource, is one of funding. Museums are expected to be self-sufficient, profitable business entities now – despite being bound up in bureaucracy. This has resulted in some museums becoming more focused on their gift shops than the exhibits; something the Wallace has fortunately avoided to date. We at TF have frequently made use of the library, and the wealth of knowledge preserved there. It would be a tragedy to lose access to it.
